A few hours of in-depth training is all it takes to strengthen your commitment. Foothills Child Advocacy Center offers trainings free of charge on child abuse issues, intervention, and prevention to organizations and adult individuals in Charlottesville, VA, Albemarle County, and surrounding counties.  Contact us to learn more or to schedule a training for your organization.

Foothills Child Advocacy Center is proud to sponsor Stewards of Children, a sexual abuse prevention training program that educates adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.  

This program is: 
  • appropriate for parents, grandparents, and any adults who care about children;
  • ideal for training staff and volunteers of organizations that serve children and adolescents;
  • developed and overseen by Darkness to Light.
Stewards of Children training is approved for 2 hours of Continuing Education Unit Credits (CEUs) by the National Association of Social Workers (#886458319-2184) and the National Board of Certified Counselors (#ACEP 6635).  
Stand Up For Kids!
In collaboration with Charlottesville/Albemarle Child Protective Services, Foothill offers Stand Up For Kids!, a training for mandated reporters on how to recognize and respond to all types of child abuse and neglect.  

This program is:
  • for Virginia-mandated reporters including individuals 18 and older who are associated with, employed by, or a volunteer with a public organization responsible for the care, custody, or control of children; private sports organization or team; public or private day camps, youth centers, or youth recreation programs; and public or private institution of higher learning.
